Yesterday I was not the happiest person in the world. Yesterday was my hell.
After the official office hours i.e. at 5.00 PM GMT +3, I left to do my other side business. As I was waiting for my business partner along Accra road in Nairobi, a gentleman walked up to me and asked me if I wanted to buy a phone. Ooh before I continue, yes, this is very common in Nairobi; they steal from someone and sell it off at ridiculous prices to get rid of it. I told him I had a phone. I forgot that I was holding my phone and the thief saw it. He made quick calculations and realized my cell phone was worth twice as much as the one he was holding. These people make me mad, steal and sell immediately.

I did not pay much attention to him and his phone, so I went ahead and started to quarrel with my business partner for making me wait for him for that long and it's something he should have done the day before. My use of the cell phone made the thief a little anxious. He wanted it and wanted it bad. My partner told me to look to my left as he was coming from that direction. When I did, I saw the young man with four other ragged men looking at me. I knew then that they were planning something. He pretended he was giving them directions.

I knew then I had to be careful. So I left my post where I was standing and moved to a place with more people and leaned on a commercial vehicle known as a matatu. The young men followed me. I kept my eye on the little one; the seller. He talked to another man and told him to probably grab my phone or something. The new guy was very courageous, once I picked my cell phone, he waled up to me. I quickly put it back into my inner coat pockets and he passed by and pretended to be helping with luggage to an empty matatu.
That's the time I realized i was really the target. I told my business partner to meet me at a place with a lot of traffic. They did not look like very smart thieves and I knew they'd have a hard time following me in the human traffic. I needed to be very careful. And as predicted they did. I was suddenly behind them with my business partner whom I told that they were following. Once, they saw I was no longer alone, they disbursed.
In the matatu on my way home I realized today was a hell of a day. Started in the morning, I forgot some very important documents once I was in office and had to take a taxi back home. I work in Westlands and live in Juja, you do the math. Our breakfast cafe was closed that morning and relocated. The afternoon meeting I had planned for and made me go back home for the documents did not happen, most of the tele sale calls I made were either not in office or not interested, the matatu conductor over charged me and made hell in the matatu to the point he gave in and gave me back the correct change and once home, another young man tried to follow me home. I stop he stops, I shop he shops and noticed he was after me.

The only good thing about yesterday was the ride I got from my mother to work, the text I sent to my boyfriend who called me back very concerned, made me feel very treasured. other than that, it was a fucked up day. Do I look, smell, act or give the impression that am rich! If that's the case, well good but let me confirm to you thieves, I aint rich but am not complaining either. Am doing well for myself and I hope and pray you be burn in hell for making me so damn nervous yesterday. You little fckuers.
Be careful all people in Nairobi and tourists in Nairobi.
