Hey y'all,
Sorry been too long since my last blog. Men, don't I have news for you. Since the last blog, I've heard gunshots, almost hit by a car as was too tired to even walk in the streets believe USA calls it jay walking or something like that, two grenade blasts in my country by an international terrorsit grou; the Al shabaab, Gunshots again, increase in my rent and bank interest rates, broke to the level of bankruptcy- that's when the amount in your account is in the negatives. You owe the bank.
My focus today will be on Gun shots. Last Friday night, the 18th of November 2011 at around 10:30 PM in the night, gunshots started. I live in a place called Kinoo, one of the upcoming towns in Kenya, its security has been rising due to the heavy presence of police surveillance at night in plain clothes and uniform.
This day, my French class took a little longer than expected. Left the class at 9:00 PM instead of 8:30PM. Got to a matatu and went straight home. Am kind of a routine type of person. Unlock the house, get in and lock right behind me before putting by bags down or removing my shoes. No different that day.
Before I could even put my bags down after locking the door, there goes a gunshot, am like, well since my house is so close to the Highway, it might be a tyre burst. Put my bag down and there goes a series of tyre bursts. Wait...
That is no tyre burst, those are gunshots. I quickly ran to my room literally, in the dark, sat away from the window behind a pillar wall, scared the hell out, tried to call have no airtime on the phone, tried to ''okoa jahazi'' nothing as balance wasn't the required low a.k.a am not poor enough, only thing to do is SMS/ text. Did the Al shabaab find there're way to my block?
I sent a text to my neighbours, probably the sounds are in my head, need confirmation, they confirmed thay also have heard the gun shots. The gun shots went on and on for fifteen minutes, thats an eternity for a dead silent night. Sent the same text to my mother who is miles away, my friends who live the area none had heard the gun shots. It was scary.
Worst part, to today, I still don't know why there were gun shots, who were exchaning gun fire and where exactly. All I know is am on my way out of there. not waiting for a third round to get me in that area. Am looking for an area with a no guns policy.
Well, that's all I had to let out today, hope to read your later. Have a blessed friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidddddddddddddddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
Ciao! BE SAFE!
